New feature: updating ANZ details for
US-registered trials
The ANZCTR automatically imports ClinicalTrials.gov trials that list an Australian or New Zealand recruitment site. These imported trials become searchable on the ANZCTR and can be included in local participant-recruitment platforms. However, some imported trials may be missing important information about the Australian or New Zealand component, such as the local sponsor, investigator, funder, ethics
approval details or data sharing plan. Local investigators may not be able to
update the ClinicalTrials.gov record, which means local details remain incomplete.
What is the new feature?
Investigators in Australia and New Zealand can
now add and update local details for their ClinicalTrials.gov trials
directly in the ANZCTR. This does not create a new registration and
does not affect the official ClinicalTrials.gov record.
Why is this feature important?
It helps:
- Support patients
and the public to find relevant local trials
- Improve the
accuracy and visibility of local trial information
- Enable funders
and other key stakeholders to track trial progress and data-sharing practices,
and
- Identify which
trials may be willing to share trial datasets (that is, the individual
participant data).
How it works
-
Log in to the ANZCTR
- Select ‘Register a trial’
- Select the option: ‘Add Australian
or New Zealand details to a ClinicalTrials.gov record’
-
Read and accept the terms and
conditions
- Enter the NCT and add or update
local details
- Click ‘Submit’ for a brief review by ANZCTR staff
before it is published online.
About this feature
Supported by the Australian Research Data Commons through the Health Studies Australian National Data Asset (HeSANDA) program, this feature links with HeSANDA’s platform, Health Data Australia, a
national catalogue that helps researchers request access to individual
participant data from Australian clinical trials.
