Description of intervention(s) / exposure
50-day team-based social-network-based physical activity intervention. Delivered via a Facebook application and iPhone counterpart, the “Active-Team” application, or “A-Team” for short, ultimately aims to improve the health and well-being of the South Australian community. Facebook users will use the “A-Team” app to invite 3-7 friends from their existing Facebook friend network to join their team. Participants will receive a pedometer, and be encouraged to take 10,000 steps per day for the 50 day challenge. The A-Team apps will provide daily humorous tips for physical activity, and allows participants to log their daily steps, see their team’s tally board, send virtual gifts, unlock virtual awards and communicate via a wall.
